Description
Up for adoption is this Silkie rooster. Silkies are ornamental and have special feathers that resemble fur. They are very soft and have blue skin and feet. They also have an extra toe. They come from the Orient where their special bones are used for medicinal purposes. They cannot be left outside on cold or wet days as they do not have the protection of waterproof insulated feathers that other chickens have. Many people keep thier silkies as free roaming inside their homes. They don't have a reputation for being litter box trained but they are predictable and can be confined to a linolium or tile floor during feeding times. He is less than a year old and is just learning to crow. Thier crow is not as loud and sounds different than a traditional rooster. (The two hens in the background are not yet available for adoption). IndyCLAW Rescue is founded on the premise of "Creating Life-long Animal Welfare". We do have an adoption contract and do home visits to ensure that this pet will be achieving a life-long home. We do not ship our pets nor do we adopt to breeders or resellers.
