Description

This really is a nice reliable 2004 Chevy Aveo. The car has averaged less then 10500 miles per year. That's pretty low considering most average drivers do 15000 miles per year.

Within the last month the oil and filter was changed, all the fluids have been topped off and the car was inspected by a local mechanic (ASE certified). I also had him replace the oil/filter, replace the spark plugs, do an alignment and change the timing belt.

During his inspection he told me that there were absolutly no mechanical issues and no fluid leaks on the car.

Here is the deal with the timing belt, in 2004-2005 GM had a big batch of defective belts. If you Google "Aveo timing belt problem" you will find alot of articles of people with costly repairs because of a faulty belt. Although the owners manual says to replace the belt at 60.000 miles, alot of people had the belt break between 35-50K miles. Its a very costly repair once the belt breaks (about $2000-2500) to replace the top part of the motor including new valves. There is no way to visually inspect the belt for faults, a timing belt tends to look the same whether its 4 months old or 4 years old. The engine will not act, sound or drive any different comparing it to one with a brand new belt, so its a gamble buying one that has not had the belt replaced. I wanted to be safe so i had it replaced, i also have the receipt for the work done. Mechanically
The Aveo does not have any leaks, it doesn't leave any drops of oil on the ground and it does not burn any oil. Mechanically its in really good shape. With only 52460 miles it still has alot of life in it.

The transmission shifts smooth with no issues, it doesn't clunk or shift in to gear hard. Highway passing gear is also great with no abnormal "jerking".The ac and heat works great. At highway speeds the car drives great, I wouldn't hesitate to drive the car on a long trip. I am actually currently driving the car back and forward to work, so there might be 200 more miles on it before this auction ends.

The car gets amazing gas mileage ( one of the reasons why im currently driving it :) ), i usually reset the trip odometer and put 10 gallons of fuel in. I drive about 50% city and 50% highway and my trip odometer shows 300-340 miles when its time to put more gas in. If your looking for a hot rod, this isnt it :) but if your looking for a car that is very inexpensive to own (gas, insurance, maintenance cost) then this car would serve your purpose great.

Exterior
The Aveo was garaged kept by the previous owner and it definitely shows. The over all paint condition is very good for a 5 year old car. The paint is very glossy and free of any fading or clear coat issues. The interior is clean. The seats and carpet are very clean for being a 5 year old car. There are no cracks on the dash or damage to the seats. The driver seat does not have any tears or rips like most 5+ year old vehicles do.
But just like every vehicle that has actually been driven on the road and not parked in a garage for car shows, there are a few minor cosmetic chips and scuffs. They are very minor and hard to see unless you get approx a half a foot away from the car or right at eye level. If your walking around the car it looks great and the paint is not faded anywhere. The minor flaws are not major but its there and i have taken over 60 high resolution pictures of it so you can see. I have taken photos of all the chips and scuffs with a caption above the photo so you can see them. Again, they are very minor and if your walking around the car its very hard to see, you have to get very close (eye level) to see these. But they are there and i just want to describe the car as best as i can.
