Great Pyrenees - Large - Adult - Male - Dog - Ben
Description
Have you ever wanted a big, beautiful, fluffy dog as a companion but thought you didn't have enough space or yard to have one? If so, BEN might be the dog you've been waiting for. Ben is one Great Pyrenees who prefers to stay inside unless he's invited to go for a car ride or a leisurely walk. Gentle and cautious, BEN was dumped in the countryside to fend for himself. It's clear he doesn't want that to happen again; he much prefers the comforts of indoor life and companionship. Good with children, adults, cats and other dogs, BEN is very reliable on his house-breaking and does not need to be crated. He can be left alone in the house without being destructive. Unlike many GP's, BEN rarely barks or digs holes. Because of his past experiences, BEN is somewhat reserved until he gets to know you. He loves to be brushed and will stand very still to enjoy it as long as your energy holds out! He also likes to lay his head in your lap with hopes for lots of petting, stroking and ear scratches. Ben's foster Mom says he quickly became a favorite of the family due to his quiet, gentle and affectionate ways and his striking good looks. He is definitely a 'head-turner'! If you have the time and patience to assure Ben you're his friend, he will respond ten-fold to you! He is being fostered in Lexington, KY and enjoys the company of the two resident female pyrs that he lives with now. . We estimate him to be about 3 -4 years old. He is fine with cats, and enjoys the company of other dogs. He would be fine in an adult only home or one with older children, but needs a calm household; young children may scare him with their loud voices and quick actions. Ben will be placed as inside pet with outside privileges to a secure visiibly fenced yard. Pyrs do not do well with wireless fencing. We recommend obedience training for all newly adopted pyrs, to help you create a special bond with you and your new friend. Obedience training will also help Ben improve his self esteem too.
