Description
Comet is over a year old. He came to us in May 2008 from Indianapolis Animal Control. He had been picked up walking a busy street. They tracked the owner down by the 4H tag in his ear, but the owner refused to pay the $50 'Animal at Large' fee to get him back. He had been hand raised for 4H shows and was very people friendly. Cupid, a young pygmy goat, came to us in June and they grew up together. They have been raised as pets. Comet was altered prior to adoption, so we've not worried about them being together. They also share their fenced area with a potbellied pig, Twiggy, and the three get along very well. This spring we added an alpaca to the herd and the personalities changed. Cupid and Preston, the alpaca, are now buds and Comet is left to hang with the pig. He's very bored and needs to go to a home that can give him the care and attention he needs. IndyCLAW is Creating Life-long Animal Welfare, so there will be a home visit to insure that our goals are being met. We would prefer the adopting family be familiar with goats. They do have special needs such as hoof trimming, regular de-worming, and biggest of all is containment. These guys are masters at getting out of a fenced yard. Having a pig for a friend helps. Even when we come up with a fencing combination that works, Twiggy uses her snout to break through it and the goats follow. While they can be frustrating, the goats are very entertaining, they are like having clowns in your back yard. They have been raised with big dogs and no problems. Call or email to arrange a visit.
