Description

I'm going to include a link with over 90 pictures of the Blazer and a link to a YouTube Video of the Blazer running, I just want to give you alot of information and hope you feel comfortable bidding on this car. Although I'm not a mechanic, i have been around a lot of cars in my life and can give you a good explanation of the vehicle.

This really is a nice 2001 Chevy Blazer 4x4 with 97300 miles. The car has averaged less then 12200 miles per year. That's pretty good considering most average drivers put 15000 miles per year on a car.

Within the last 10 miles i had the Blazer inspected by my mechanic. My mechanic has been working on cars for 15 years, working for a big new car dealership here in town, he is very good and all my vehicles go to him for the inspection and reconditioning. He has his own ASE certified shop and does anything from oil changes to rebuilding engines.

He inspected it and told me its a very solid Blazer. He looked it over and took it for a test drive, it did not need brakes and the engine and transmission did not have any issues. The fluids all looked good but i had him replace the engine oil and filter just to be safe. He did tell me that the intake gasket was leaking a little and I gave him the OK to replace the gasket. You can be comfortable knowing that the gasket was replaced with the updated version and you will not have to worry about replacing it 6 months after you purchase the Blazer. It's a costly repair and most dealerships charge $700-$1100 to do this job.

There are no mechanical issues with the Blazer so i am including a 3 month 3000 mile engine/transmission warranty at no additional cost (no deductible).

Here is the deal with the intake gasket.
Nearly every single Blazer, Jimmy, Silverado or S-10 with the 4.2L V6 engine will have leaky gaskets once they are past approx 70.000 miles (if its the original gasket). There must have been a flaw in the design of the original gaskets, because the updated version is an aluminum gasket with rubber siding. The original gaskets they put in these engines were plastic with rubber siding. Nearly every single 4.2L V6 i see with the original gaskets are leaking 99% of the time. If you do a google search for "blazer intake gasket" you will see that alot of people have the same problem with the original gaskets. The engine is one of the best V6 motors GM has made, but the original gasket isnt the best.

If you are looking to buy a Blazer, make sure that there are records of the gaskets being replaced. I did not want the next owner to "inherit" the service bill 6 months down the line so i had it replaced. I also saved the receipt for the work done. I took a picture of the updated gasket kit when i was at the mechanic, i included the picture in the photo album below.

Mechanically
I personally drive all the vehicles i sell for a few days. This one i put approx 80 miles on and it drives great in town and on the highway. The engine does not make any abnormal noises, no ticking or knocking. It idles very smooth when in park and accelerates without any hesitation or jerking. The 4x4 works great and shifts in and out without a problem when pushing the 4x4 buttons. These Blazers last a very long time with regular maintenance so if you continue the good maintenance, you will get alot of miles out of this one. The transmission shifts smooth with no issues, it doesn't clunk or shift in to gear hard. Highway passing gear is also great with no abnormal "jerking". There are no mechanical issues with this car at all and I wouldn't hesitate to drive the car on a long trip. If you look around on ebay or any other car site, you will see that these 4.2L V6 engines are good for along time. Alot of these have north of 180.000 miles and are still in excellent condition, i have even personally seen them with a little over 200.000 miles and still running great. This one has has 97000 so it still has alot of life left. The 4.2L V6 in the Blazer is a well known engine in the GM line-up, they have had the engine around for over 15 years. They put this engine in S-10 pickup's, Silverado trucks, Sierra truck and some of their other small size GM vehicles. They even put the same exact engine in some of the 2010 Chevy and GMC light duty trucks with the V6 option.

Electrical
The AC and heat works great, cruise works just like it should, all power windows work, power seat works and so does the radio. It also has remote start and that works great as well. There are no electrical issues with the car.

Exterior
The Blazer was very well cared for by the previous owner and it definitely shows. The over all paint condition is in great shape with no clear coat issues or deep scratches.
But just like every vehicle that has actually been driven on the road and not parked in a garage for car shows, there are a few minor cosmetic chips and scuffs. They are very minor and hard to see unless you get approx a half a foot away from the Blazer or right at eye level. If your walking around the car it looks great and the paint is not faded anywhere. The minor flaws are not major but its there and i have taken over 90 high resolution pictures of it so you can see. I have taken photos of all the chips and scuffs with a caption above the photo so you can see them. Again, they are very minor and if your walking around the Blazer its very hard to see, you have to get very close (eye level) to see these. But they are there and i just want to describe the car as best as i can.
There are 5-6 chips on the hood that have been touched up. A very small ding on the passenger side front door, a few small chips on the rear bumper and a scratch on the rear bumper. I took a close up picture of every flaw i could see with my finger pointing towards the chip/scuff, take a look at the photo album to see all the pictures.
Interior
The interior is very clean, the seats and carpet are exceptionally clean for the age and the head liner is free of any stains. The driver seat does not have any abnormal wear or rips and neither does any of the other seats. And the carpet in the cargo area looks very clean as well. I have alot of close up pictures of the interior so you can get a good idea of the condition.
