I'm going to include a link with 100 pictures of the Jeep and a link to a YouTube Video of the Jeep running, I just want to give you alot of information and hope you feel comfortable bidding on this car. Although I'm not a mechanic, i have been around a lot of cars in my life and can give you a good explanation of the vehicle.
This really is a nice 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 83906 miles. The car has averaged less then 10500 miles per year. That's pretty good considering most average drivers put 15000 miles per year on a car.
Within the last 10 miles i had the car inspected by my mechanic. My mechanic has been working on cars for 15 years, working for a big new car dealership here in town, he is very good and all my vehicles go to him for the inspection and reconditioning. He has his own ASE certified shop and does anything from oil changes to rebuilding engines.
He inspected it and told me its a very solid Jeep. He looked it over and took it for a test drive, it did not need brakes and the engine, transmission and 4x4 transfer case did not have any issues.
The only issue with the Jeep was that the AC did not blow air up front, it only did it on the floor by my feet. The AC blows ICE cold, but the actuator arm that controls the direction of the air did not work right. So I had him replace that with a new part ($700 parts and labor), he replaced the engine oil and filter and also did a 4 wheel alignment. Now the air flow works like it should when you select the direction, by the feet, up front or by the windshield. I also saved the receipt for the work done on the Jeep.
Mechanically
I personally drive all the vehicles i sell for a few days to get a good idea of the mechanical condition. This one i put approx 200 miles on and it drives great in town and on the highway. I took it up to 75-80 mph on the highway and it drove great with no abnormal noises. A couple days ago I took it on a it on a 70 mile trip and about 50 miles of that was highway driving, and it felt great on the highway.
It really is a solid example and you can tell by the interior and exterior condition that it was not a car that was abused nor does it look like its ever been off road. The under carriage was to clean for prior off road use. You can usually see signs of dirt in hard to clean areas if a SUV has been off road. And i dont know of many people that take a Grand Cherokee off road, usually its the Wrangler that go off road but you never know what people will do :) This one was too clean with no signs of dirt on the under carriage.
The engine does not make any abnormal noises when you first start it up in the morning, no ticking or knocking. It idles very smooth when in park and accelerates without any hesitation or jerking. The transmission shifts smooth with no issues at all, it doesn't clunk or shift in to gear hard. The steering is very tight and does not feel "loose" when going over bumps or making sharp turns in parking lots. Highway passing gear is also great with no abnormal "jerking". These Jeep's last a very long time with regular maintenance so if you continue the good maintenance, you will get alot of miles out of this one. If you look around on the internet for Grand Cherokee's for sale, you will see alot of these with around (sometimes even more) 150.000 miles but are still in excellent mechanical condition. This one has right under 84000 miles so it still has alot of life left and there are no mechanical issues with this car at all. The 4.7L V8 engine they put in this Jeep has been around for over 10 years. It's obviously been a good engine for Chrysler because they have put it in a lot of their other vehicles. They even put same engine in their brand new 2010 Jeep's, Durango's, Dakota trucks and even the Dodge Ram.
Electrical
The AC blows ice cold and heat works great, the CD player and AM/FM radio works, all power windows work and so does the power sunroof. The over head console works as well.
Exterior
The Jeep was well cared for by the previous owner and it definitely shows. The over all paint condition is nearly in mint condition, it had to have been a garage kept Jeep.
But just like every vehicle that has actually been driven on the road and not parked in a garage for car shows, there are a few minor cosmetic chips and scuffs. They are very minor and hard to see unless you get approx a half a foot away from the Jeep or right at eye level. If your walking around the Jeep it looks great and the paint is not faded anywhere. The minor flaws are not major but its there and i have taken 100 high resolution pictures of it so you can see. I have taken photos of all the chips and scuffs with a caption above the photo so you can see them. Again, they are very minor and if your walking around the Jeep they dont stand out, you have to get very close (eye level) to see these. But they are there and i just want to describe the car as best as i can.
There are 5-6 very small chips on the hood that has been touched up. A few minor chips on the lower door moldings on the passenger and driver side, a few scratches on the rear bumper, a tiny dent on the rear bumper. Small door ding on the passenger side front door and a tiny chip on the driver side front fender. All of these have been touched up and i have closeup pictures of every chip/scuff.
Interior
The interior of the Jeep is very clean, the leather seats and carpet are exceptionally clean for the age. The head liner is free of any stains. The driver seat does not have any cracks or wear on it, neither does the other seats. The carpet on the driver and passenger side front and rear looks great. The overall condition of the seat look great compared to most 8 year old vehicles, and there are no abnormal odors in the Jeep. The only spot is in the cargo area on the carpet, i took a picture of it. Looks like something was spilled in the back, i did get it detailed but you can still see it on the carpet. I have alot of close up pictures of the seats and carpet so you can get a good idea of the condition.
